My Favorite Moment at On Fire 2011

On Fire Nor Cal Jam 2011 this year was a crazy, wonderful, tiring day. An awesome day of singing, talks, fellowship and worship with 4,000 Catholics at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom in Vallejo, CA. As also an MC for the event it was even more tiring day. As the days came closer to On Fire I wasn’t as excited as I thought I was. I really didn’t feel anything. No nervousness and not that much excitement for the event. To be perfectly honest, I wasn’t feeling God that much for awhile, but that all changed during On Fire.
I was nervous when we were getting ready for the event. While waiting for the crowd to come I was roaming around, twiddling my thumbs and trying to remember my lines for the event. I got really nervous. The opening went smoothly. I think I did a good job. Praise & Worship began and then practice for Mass. Matt Maher lead the P&W and then the practice for mass. I was feeling the music, but not as much until I turned and faced the crowd.
I was stunned by the sight of 4,000 Catholics singing. It was amazing. It’s a good thing I had my sunglasses on because I had tears down my eyes. At that exact moment I felt God’s presence here and in me. I couldn’t believe how amazing that feeling was. It’s like if you were a little kid and your dad came home after a long business trip. The joy and excitement I felt was amazing. I haven’t felt that way in a long time and I am so happy I was able to experience that. It is something that I am going to remember forever!
