NorCal Catholic Calendar [NC3] - January Edition

Be the Straw's inaugural edition of NorCal Catholic Calendar [NC3] where they highlight several upcoming Catholic or Catholic-related events in Northern California.

In this edition we cover St. Pat's Praise Night, Walk for Life West Coast, Catholic Underground Bay Area, Revs Vs. Sems Basketball Challenge, UC Catholic Conference, Pan de Vida Retreat, and Unplugged.

YA Praise Night – Jan. 25
This Friday, January 25 join Young Adults from the Bay Area in a night of Praise and worship of our Lord at St. Patrick's Seminary in Menlo Park. With music and prayer led by the Seminarian Praise team, the night will feature Adoration,Compline, and Benediction with Reconciliation available. The event will also include a period of fellowship after Benediction. Event begins at 8pm. For more info email

West Coast Walk for Life – Jan. 26
Also this weekend, we have the 9th Annual Walk For Life West Coast going down in San Francisco. Join tens of thousands of pro-lifers from all over the West Coast and beyond to peaceably protest abortion. Last year's event an estimated 40,000+ pro-lifers gathered in front of City Hall and marched down Market Street in defense of all human life. Come join us for Mass at the Cathedral of St. Mary celebrated by Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone, 9:30am – 1111 Gough Street, San Francisco. Then head down to the Civic Center Plaza for a Pro-Life Info Faire. The Walk For Life Main Event begins at 12:30 with a pro-life rally, followed by the start of the actual Walk right at 1:30pm. Catholic Underground Bay Area – January 26, 7:30pm
After the Walk for Life join young adults from all over the bay as Catholic Underground Bay Area returns from it's Winter Hiatus. CU Bay area begins with Adoration and Vespers at 7:30pm – Confession available. This time around the event features a concert by the internationally renowned musician, speaker and Franciscan Friar, Fr. Stan Fortuna. CU bay area will be held at St. Mary Magdalen Church in Berkeley and is for Young Adults 18+ Catholic Underground Bay Area – Where faith and Culture meet. For more info visit

Pan de Vida Retreat – Feb. 1-3
On Feb. 1-3 a Pan De Vida Retreat will be taking place at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Brentwood, CA. The Pan de Vida Retreat program promotes, organizes, and directs retreats based on the Gospel of St. John, Chapter 6, ” I am the Bread of Life.” The focus on the Eucharist shows young people that Christ must be at the center of their lives. Revs Vs. Sems – Feb. 8, 7pm
7th Annual Revs Vs. Sems basketball challenge
Come see seminarians from St. Patrick's seminary take on priests of the Diocese of San Jose in 5 on 5 basktball action on the hardwood of the Leavey Center, Santa Clara University. That's the tagline for the inaugural UC Catholic Conference happening Feb. 15-18 at UC Berkeley. The inaugural theme is “ “UNIVERSITY, UNIVERSAL, UNITY,” and the event organizers seek to unite university students across California through the Universal Catholic Faith. Unplugged 3 – Mar. 9
