Pray for Sister Angela, and all the new DSMME Postulants

Please join the Be The Straw crew in praying for our dear friend, Sister Angela Rubang, and the other new postulants of the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist.

This is Angela's vocation story via the Dominican Sisters of Mary, Mother of the Eucharist website:
I grew up in a "Cradle-Catholic" family but, after my confirmation I began to grow in my faith through my parish youth ministry. Later I came to appreciate my Catholicism in college when I was challenged to discover Truth for myself. It was then that I thought I decided to discern (in my own way) a possible religious vocation. I prayed about it, but also tried every other option I could think of; from marketing to wedding planning, from professional ballroom dancing, to youth ministry and teaching junior high religion. I also dated, and I really wanted marriage to be my vocation.

Ten years later I was not married, and definitely was not satisfied with any of the great jobs or boyfriends I had had. I was restless, and I still hadn't sincerely discerned my vocation. So, I finally found a spiritual director and with a little push from the Sisters I had met, I attended a discernment retreat. Instantly, I fell in love with the Community, the religious life, and with Christ all over again. I realized that He had been so patient with me for years and since He was continuing to woo me, I wouldn't resist any longer.

Sister Angela, way before she was a sister, was such a positive influence on our lives and she had a fruitful impact on our ministry. We thank all of you for joining us in praying for her.

Pray for Vocations.
